Emergency medical alert technology has been saving lives for many many years. The elderly and disabled are particularly at risk from injuries, especially those who live alone, and having a medical alert device can be a life saver.

So how do medical alert devices work, and what makes them so valuable? The following is a short description of how Emergency medical alert technology works.

When the injured person presses the button on their medical alert bracelet, pendant etc, the microphone equipped transceiver, which is attached to the users land line. The transceiver handles the call by dialing out to the Customer Care Center and establishes an automatic 2 way communication between the user and the Call Center Rep.

Along with the phone call, the users profile is automatically put up on the CSR’s screen, which can include a number of items from Name, Age, Address, medical conditions etc. With the two way voice link created, the CSR will attempt to communicate with the user to gauge the severity of the situation. In situations where voice communication cannot be created between the user and the Customer service Rep., the customer service representative will either call contact number that is on the Subscribers profile, or medical emergency personnel. All of this happens within seconds, and can save the life of the medical alert subscriber.

As you can see, Emergency Medical Alert Technology is a fast reliable way of getting medical assistance to people in need, and it is vital for people who choose to live alone and have a medical condition that may require emergency attention.
