The LineGrabber is an inexpensive device that is used in those situations where there is more than one phone or other device in the household that uses the same line as the Aegis Medical Alert base unit. It immediately disconnects any given extension phone (or computer, fax, etc.) that is using the same line as the base unit thereby allowing the alarm signal to go through. Using a LineGrabber ensures that the phone line is free when the Aegis Medical Alert System needs to send the alarm signal to the 24 hour Aegis Monitoring Center.

Use of these devices on all phones or devices that use the same line as the Aegis Medical Alert System base unit is necessary to ensure that the system will send the alarm signal regardless of the use of other phones or devices on the same line. They are inexpensive and easy to install.

One of the biggest fears facing seniors is their loss of independence. Being moved from ones own home into a nursery home can strike a serious blow to ones self-esteem and self-worth. Although Nursery homes have been developed to help the elderly, often it can feel like a prison where rules and daily routines can strip the elderly of their pride. One company has taken these issues into consideration when developing the WellAWARE Systems, a total home monitoring system that hopes to help independent seniors and their families live a more independent and stress free life.

According to the WellAware Systems Site:

Wireless Sensor Array– Depending on the care setting, up to six different types of unobtrusive sensors (motion, impact, bed, door, motion/temperature and motion/humidity) are strategically placed in the living space of a WellAWARE resident to detect behaviors with regards to daily activity, sleeping patterns, showering, and possible emergency events such as falls and leaving their stove on and unattended. The wireless sensors communicate the ongoing activity to the Data Manager. The diagram below shows the typical placement of sensors in a senior residence.

The WellAware Systems is another example in the ways that corporations are helping the elderly live a more independent life.

Purchasing a medical alert system may be the smartest thing you do, it can save your life. But finding the right Medical Alert Device can be a difficult one, there are so many corporations selling Med Alert Technology. For those of you who are looking to purchasing the right alert technology there are a few things that you should know before doing so. The following is a list of some of the more important things you should be looking for before you sign up for a medical alert system.

Price of Medical Alert System isn’t everything. Just because it’s the most expensive product, doesn’t necessarily make it the best. Don’t use price as the only factor in signing up for med Alert Technology.

Look for medical systems from companies that have their own monitoring centers. Make sure that your medical alert service provider does not outsource this critical phase in their business model.

Find out what type of training is provided to their in house agents.

Find out how long the Medical Alert Service Company has operated.

Check with the Better Business Bureau for any complaints against the company.

Do a Google search to find out what other Medical Alert Customers are saying about the company.

Insist on a money back trial.

Does the medical alert company provide expedient technical support and replacement of units if they become defected?

The above questions will help you find the best Medical Alert Systems provider and most importantly, it may help save your life.
